Scion Wood

Scion wood is a piece of young, healthy wood or stem from a plant that is grafted onto a rootstock during the grafting process. The scion contains the genetic material that determines the upper part of the plant, including its fruiting or flowering characteristics. Scion wood is chosen for its desirable traits, such as disease resistance or high yield, and is often used in fruit tree or ornamental plant propagation.
