Soil Structure

Soil structure is the arrangement of soil particles (sand, silt, and clay) into aggregates or clusters. Good soil structure improves water infiltration, root penetration, and air movement, all of which are critical for healthy plant growth. Well-structured soil has a balance of macropores and micropores, allowing for efficient water drainage and retention. Soil structure can be improved through practices such as adding organic matter and avoiding compaction.
