Macropores

Macropores are large, open spaces or channels in soil that allow for rapid movement of air and water. These pores are typically created by earthworms, roots, or soil structure and play an important role in drainage and aeration. Macropores help prevent waterlogging by enabling excess water to move quickly through the soil profile. Healthy soil with a good balance of macropores promotes deep root growth and efficient water use by plants.
