Coping

Coping is the protective cap or top layer of a wall, retaining structure, or pool edge, designed to prevent water from penetrating the wall and causing damage. Coping can be made from stone, concrete, or brick and is typically sloped or curved to direct water away from the structure. In landscaping, coping adds a finished, polished look to retaining walls, garden beds, and other hardscape features while serving a practical purpose in water management.
